Ground Screws for Garden Buildings

Can you dig it? Yes you can. But why would you when you can screw it?

There are lots of tried and tested construction and building techniques that have been used for centuries. Most of them are amazing and there is always lots to learn from these master builders of the past. However, it is always important to also question these ways of doing things, and ask is there another way of doing things? This is where innovation happens and it is especially important when trying to be environmentally responsible.

One of the most interesting innovations in garden rooms is the foundations. Mostly when we think of foundations we think of digging a big hole and pouring in a load of concrete or digging a big hole and dumping in a load of hardcore and sand and then laying heavy paving slabs. Both of these methods create a great level and solid base for your garden rooms. They are also a lot of hard back breaking work, digging, mixing, pouring, lugging and sweating. They are also very messy, you might end up with dead grass where the slabs, or ton bag of sand have been left. If its wet you will end up with a muddy mess with all the back and forth through the house or round to the garden. Then there is all the mess to clear up and the wait for the concrete to set.

Why Choose Ground Screws

We think a much smarter solution is to use ground screws. These can be installed quickly and easily, in a matter of hours – for a small foundation. There is no mess and you can start building your garden room the same day. There are no heavy materials to be lugged around and apart from some small holes there is very little impact to your garden and no waste material to get rid of.

The benefits don’t stop there. They are also much more environmentally friendly, there is much less transport needed and not using cement makes a massive difference as 10% of all carbon emissions come from cement production.

Here at Spacecraft we are always questioning and trying to improve how we do things to make our garden rooms, garden offices, and garden studios, more efficient, cost effective and environmentally friendly. This is why we use the Groundcrew Centre to supply us with all of our groundcrews.

Another advantage is that if you decide to move your garden room it is easy to unscrew the foundations leaving very little impact on the garden and reuse your ground screws in the new location.
